If something here is yours
We hold what members put here and show it to the people they chose. If something is yours and should not be, we will take it down. This page says exactly how to make that happen, and what happens to an account that keeps collecting these.

Telling us
Send a notice to the agent named at the foot of this page. To be one we can act on it needs all six of the following. That is not us being difficult: the law sets out the list, and a notice missing any of it does not start the clock.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- What work you are talking about. If there are several, a list is fine.
- Where it is on MyLifeSpotter, specifically enough that we can find it. A link to the clip is best.
- How to reach you: name, address, telephone and email.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by you, your agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that what you have told us is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.
What we do, and how fast
We take the material down or make it unreachable, and we tell the member who posted it what came in and who it came from.
We do not wait to form a view on whether the claim is right. That is not our judgement to make, and taking something down is not us agreeing with the person who asked.
If you are the member and the notice is wrong
It happens, and there is a route back. Send a counter notice to the same agent with:
- Your signature.
- What was removed, and where it was before it went.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed as a result of a mistake or a misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number, your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court where you live, or the Western District of North Carolina if you live outside the United States, and your agreement to accept service from the person who complained.
We pass it to them. If they do not file a court action within ten to fourteen business days, your material goes back up.
Repeat claims against the same account
We keep a record of notices we have acted on, per account. An account that keeps collecting them stops being able to post, and then stops having an account. The ladder is written here rather than left to our discretion, so you can read it and know exactly where you stand.
- One: The material goes, and we tell you what came in and who it came from. Nothing else happens.
- Two: Posting new clips is paused for fifteen days.
- Three: Paused for thirty days.
- Four: The account is closed.
A pause touches posting and nothing else. Your commitments, your spotter, your crew and your days keep working throughout.
A notice withdrawn by whoever sent it, or beaten by a counter notice nobody took to court, does not count against you and comes off the tally.
Sending a false notice costs you something too
Someone who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing is liable for the damages that causes, including the other side’s legal costs. The same is true of a false counter notice. We have no interest in being used as a weapon in somebody else’s argument.
Reporting from inside the app
Every clip carries Report this, and one of the reasons is that the work belongs to somebody else. Use it. It is not a legal notice and it does not need to be: it tells us, and we look.
The agent
Notices and counter notices go to info@mylifespotter.com, marked copyright, and they are read.
A named agent with a postal address is being registered with the United States Copyright Office and this page will carry those details when it is. Until then, the email address above is the way to reach us and everything else on this page is what we do.
